To save it for later, choose " Retreat from the blood pool" - a safe option which can be repeated. However, you do not have to do this the first time you come across the black pool, and can come back to it any time - even in act 3. Once you have passed the first dialog option screen with the souls in the pool you cannot exit and re-enter it to change your party composition.Īfter dialog, the pool will stay silent. You can only sacrifice a companion that is currently in your party.Using the pool without a Cruel disposition will cause you to lose access to it.
Your main character needs to have at least 1 Cruel Disposition.It will be listed as Effigy's Resentment in your character screen. The bonus you receive depends on which companion you choose to sacrifice.
Sacrificing a companion grants you both an extra point in an attribute and a bonus specific to the companion sacrificed, but the companion will be removed from the game and all quests specific to them failed. Hired adventurers do not qualify to be sacrificed. In the area Dyrford Ruins (see Blood Legacy), if you have a Cruel disposition you can sacrifice one of your companions to Skaen at the blood pool. The blood pool in the temple of Skaen gave you this reward in exchange for sacrificing one of your companions.
